If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out to us.

You can contact us via email at [email protected].

Our office is located in San Diego, where we are dedicated to serving our service members and veterans.

Before You Write to Us

Chevron & Star is an independent digest, not a government agency, a veterans service organization or part of the Department of Veterans Affairs. We can't look up your claim status, change your benefits, or speak to an agency on your behalf. Knowing this up front helps you send your message to the place that can act on it fastest.

What we're glad to hear about

  • Corrections: if a benefits explainer or transition guide is out of date or unclear, tell us which article and what changed. Rules and forms are revised often, and reader notes help us keep pages accurate.
  • Story ideas: experiences from active duty, the Guard and Reserve, veterans and military families are welcome for our Service Stories section.
  • Community resources: local groups, peer meetups or programs in the San Diego area that other readers should know about.
  • General feedback on what topics you'd like covered next.

Where to go for individual help

For questions about your own disability claim, GI Bill payments, health care enrollment or discharge paperwork, contact the VA directly or work with an accredited representative. Accredited veterans service officers, often available through county veteran offices and recognized veterans organizations, help with claims at no cost. Our Resources page lists the kinds of organizations that can assist.

If you or someone you know is in crisis, don't wait for an email reply. Call 988 and press 1 for the Veterans Crisis Line, or call 911 in an emergency.

Protecting your privacy

Please don't send Social Security numbers, service numbers, medical records or copies of DD-214s by email. We don't need them to answer a question or consider a story, and leaving them out keeps your information safe. A short description of your situation is plenty.

We read every message, though replies may take some time because the digest is run by a small team. If your question is about something we've already covered, a quick look through our benefits explainers may get you an answer sooner.
